"My Mug and I" with Heather!

Saturday, 22 August 2015

This week, we have the lovely Heather from Frost on the Vine. She likes having breakfast for dinner - so what is not to love about her?! My favourite post is her "Caring for Succulents" because I am desperate for my succulents to not die..! Be sure to check her out!

Here we go!

Hey! Who are you and where do you come from?
My name is Heather Serra. I'm a leasing manager for a townhome community & I blog over at FrostontheVine.com. I currently live in Upstate New York, USA.

How long have you had your favourite mug?
I've had my favorite mug for a little over 2 years now.

Where did it come from?
My beautiful, sweet, 9-year-old niece picked it out & gave it to me for my birthday. She obviously has very sophisticated taste in mugs. ;)

Why this one?
Well, besides the fact that my awesome niece gave it to me, it has a little built-in pocket for my ever chilly fingers. I am cold all the time! I'm constantly shaking hands at work and so I try to warm up with this mug before meeting with a potential tenant.

Does it really make your drink taste better?
Yes! Anything I have in other mugs is just...eh, ok. lol

What is your favourite thing to have in your mug?
Strong black coffee which is definitely an acquired taste. Guess I'm a grown up now...;-p

When do you have your first cuppa?
In the mornings. I like to get in a cup before I get to work so that I'm as cheery as my colleague, but my mornings don't always pan out that way. I'm usually running out the door and pour a cup as soon as I get to the office.

How many hot drinks do you have per day?
Hmmm...good question. On a cold day, probably 6ish. On an average day, probably 2.

What is your favourite thing to do whilst with your mug?
Wake up! lol...thus the strong black coffee. During that process, I like to check out my social media...see what I've missed overnight.

Anything else?
Yes. Thanks for featuring me & my favorite mug. I love this segment!

A big thank you to Heather for taking part!

I think so :) it makes the day better for sure!

Black coffee with French vanilla coconut milk creamer. So delish

First thing in the am, about 7.15am!

How many hot drinks do you have per day?
Usually 2 cups of coffee, a third in the afternoon if it is a long day

My First Car..!

Wednesday, 12 August 2015

What was your first car?

I was so lucky with my first car. My grandfather left me a trust fund for university - but I was already doing Open University, so I decided to get myself a new car!

My first car was a Citroen C1. I was instantly in love!

I used and abused this car. When I sold it in 2013, it had 200,000 miles on the clock - even though it was only 6 years old!

The most important thing about my car? It protected me. It was safe (even after someone drove into the side of me...!).

Now car safety is something that has always been important to me. Sadly, I have lost friends - the road is a dangerous place.

One time, I had just got my tyres replaced - it was snowing and I was nervous. My tyres were just borderline safe, so I thought it was about time.
(I live in the UK.. Therefore, when it snows, the whole country comes to a standstill. We are just not used to it!)

As the roads were chockablock, I decided (stupidly) to take the country roads home. As I drove around a bend, I lost control of my car and span. Nothing I did corrected the spin and my car kept spinning around and round. I was so scared!

My tyres eventually gripped and my car came to a sideways stop - about a foot away from a brick wall. If I had crashed, I wouldn't have been able to get out of my car and I was in the middle of nowhere, alone.

I was soooo lucky that I got my tyres done!

When was the last time you got your tyres done? I'm not going to lie.. One of the main reasons I put off getting my tyres done is because I have no idea what I am doing. I once took my car to a car garage (that I won't name..) and they tried to charge me £350 for two back tyres! I am sure you can see, the car I had was so little, that was absurd!!

Check out Point S - you literally need your number plate! They then give you the price options, you choose the centre (nearest to you, mine is only 2 miles away) and then you reserve the tyres! All done. No hidden costs or tricks!

Coconut Oil Hair Mask - Tried and Tested!

Wednesday, 5 August 2015

I have insane hair. Check this out!

Now, if you have read my post about Coconut Oil, you will know that I am obsessed. I have seen so many people trying out coconut oil hair masks, that I thought I would join in.

I do use coconut oil on my hair, but I was a little cautious about using it on my scalp and roots. My hair literally never gets greasy (I am lucky, I could literally not wash my hair for a month and it would not be greasy) - so I was hesitant to make it greasy! What if the coconut oil doesn't wash out properly?! My scalp is always super dry - so I thought that I would give it a go.

First, I started by parting my hair and massaging melted coconut oil straight onto my scalp. I made sure that my head was covered but not overloaded. It felt so good!!

Then I moved down my hair with the oil, all the way to the tips.

I tied my hair into a bun on top of my head, and left it over night.

Now this was not a very pleasant experience.. I had to basically wrap my hair in a towel for the whole night so I didn't get my pillow covered in oil!

To rinse the coconut oil out of my hair, I used a standard Tresemmé shampoo. It took just two shampoos before the oil was out of my hair - but I did do a third rinse, just in case!

The result?

Now, for my hair, this is amazing!!

It was so soft and my scalp felt so hydrated.

Try it!

Glastonbury Festival!

Monday, 3 August 2015

Greg is a medic for a company called FMS. They provide medical cover at large events, such as Glastonbury Festival! Meaning, I get to come with him to Glastonbury and stay on a camp site with flushing toilets and showers - bliss!

We met some lovely new friends there and cannot wait to see them at the next festival!

This year, the line up was great. If you ever get the chance to go to Glastonbury, just do it!

Glastonbury is known for its hippie culture - and the festival does not disappoint with this.

As always, I explain things better with pictures - enjoy.

Here is some of what I captured :)
